Austria Salary Calculator
Austria’s income tax system is progressive, with rates in 2026 ranging from 0% to 55%, based on income levels. The first €13,539 of income is tax-free, followed by a 20% rate on income above this amount, 30% on income over €21,992, 40% on income over €36,458, increasing further to 48% and 50%, and reaching 55% for income exceeding €1,000,000.
These rates apply to taxable income after deductions, and various tax credits and allowances are available to help reduce the overall tax burden.
In addition to income tax, employees in Austria contribute to the social security system. In total, contributions amount to around 37–38% of gross salary, with employees paying about 18% and employers contributing slightly more. These contributions cover healthcare, pensions, unemployment insurance, and other social services, and are calculated based on earnings.
