About Bloom & Wild

We believe that you should be able to be there from anywhere with flowers for those you love. Easily order our British designs to send in seconds to be delivered next day through the letterbox.

It's flowers, delivered with love.

Our team of in-house floral designers create bouquets weekly, changing with styles and seasons to ensure that only the best flowers are sent out.

Our range is centred around innovative designs and products. From letterbox flowers to hand-tied bouquets, roses to mini pineapples, we go beyond our customers' wildest floral imaginations. We’re always sourcing creative blooms to delight our customers.

Our designs are inspired by popular culture, fashion and interiors. Each is crafted with the idea of an English country garden in mind - beautiful with a touch of wild and whimsy.

We source our flowers seasonally, responsibly and carefully. Each bloom we work with is quality tested for longevity and beauty, we don't settle for second best.

Position
  • Playing a leading part in setting and delivering the technical roadmap, and ensuring optimum technical approaches are chosen
  • Writing, reviewing and supporting code across all aspects of our stack - while team leadership and architectural/technical direction setting are key elements, this is a hand’s on role, in a small but growing team
  • Taking ideas from specs to live code, taking responsibility for quality at every step along the way, whether it’s testability, UX or architecture
  • Promoting code quality and craft
  • Mentoring members of the tech team and helping them grow their technical careers
  • As well as being part of a small, close-knit tech team you’ll work with marketers, designers, analysts and flower stylists to bring to life the flower gifting experience and hit our ambitious company-wide goals

We’re using technologies such as Docker, Rails, PostgreSQL, Sidekiq, Stripe, AWS, Docker, Pusher and JSON API to power a best-in-class shopping experience for our customers. Our APIs are used by native iOS (Objective-C/Swift) and Android (Java) clients, as well as our AngularJS website.

Your qualification
  • Have in-depth knowledge of Ruby on Rails in a production environment, with experience of test-driven development
  • Experience in a fast-growing (preferably consumer-facing) startup, interacting with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Have a passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies
  • Lead by example, setting clear direction and good software engineering practices
  • Are eager to learn, fast-moving and pragmatic, favouring working and usable MVPs, and using real customer feedback to continuously iterate and improve our tech
  • Have experience working with developers of all skill levels, using code reviews, pair programming and other techniques to improve the team as a whole. You’ll consider “how can I help the team deliver” above “how can I deliver work myself”
  • Have worked with RESTful APIs and ideally you will have built new APIs (ours uses JSONAPI)
  • Have used version control tools such as GitHub, CI tools such as Codeship, and testing tools RSpec/Cucumber or similar
  • Have experience of using Docker and AWS
  • If you’re familiar with Javascript and have experience of operating as a full stack developer then that’s a big plus
