About VanMoof

We’re obsessed with cities. So are our bikes. Truly city-proof, they shrink long commutes, defend themselves against thieves, battle hills and headwinds, and make you feel like a straight-up superhero.

We ride outside of the box, designing parts from scratch and integrating groundbreaking tech to create the smartest, sleekest bikes around.

It all started in Amsterdam, the city cycling capital of the world. But these days, VanMoof riders zip their way through Tokyo, Berlin, San Francisco, London, Paris, Taipei, and an exploding number of cities around the globe.

Our philosophy is simple – if it doesn't help you outsmart your city, then we don't do it.

Position

Want to help our ambitious R&D team to create the very best e-bike out there? As a Power Electronics Engineer, you’ll work with our R&D teams across our HQ in Amsterdam and production headquarters in Taipei.

As a Power Electronics Engineer, your focus will be to design, develop, and test motor drivers, DCDCs, power electronics, and battery management systems (BMS). You’ll report directly to the Head of Power Systems and work with external partners to define and implement the subsystems that the complex electromechanical systems that live in our world-class e-bikes need. Our ideal candidate has experience in developing power electronics systems from initial design to mass production.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll work with our global R&D team and our external partners to define and implement required subsystems
  • You’ll make sure we carry out proper testing, validation, and certification of the overall system
  • You’ll drive the system design and implementation process, bring-up, integration, and support manufacturing tests for mass production
  • You’ll drive continuous reliability, yield, and performance improvements throughout development and into production

Your qualification

  • You have a degree in Electrical Engineering (BS, MS preferred)
  • You have experience in developing and bringing to market highly complex, consumer electronics products (e.g. battery powered connected mobile devices)
  • You have experience with electronics CAD tools (preferably Altium Design)
  • You have experience shipping high-volume consumer products in a design role
  • You have hands-on experience and know-how on every step of the process required to bring electronic products to production
  • You have good knowledge of most technologies used in motor drivers and power electronics
  • You have a solid understanding of EMC
  • You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

Will be a plus

  • Experience working with Asian design manufacturers and suppliers
  • Experience with CANBus, SPI and other serial communications
  • Experience with GaN technology
  • Electromechanical experience
  • Production and test engineering knowledge

What we offer

  • 26 paid holiday days for you to unwind
  • Your very own VanMoof bike (lend-lease)
  • Pension plan with Brand New Day
  • Laptop, screens, and software tools
  • Insider experience in a rapidly-growing international company
  • Healthy lunch provided when in the office
  • Special snacks, tasty coffee (and lots of tea) when in the office
  • Weekly bootcamp, weekly yoga, OneFit discount, and ClassPass credits
  • Discount on Dutch health insurance
