About Media Distillery

Media Distillery, an Amsterdam-based startup, is changing the world of video analysis. We are developing new technology making it easier to understand what’s going on inside a video - using our Deep Content Understanding™ platform to provide metadata in real-time. By using AI and deep learning techniques, we’re able to provide meaningful filtered information and send real-time notifications to our clients.

Media Distillery develops technology that analyzes audio and video content in real-time. We apply cutting edge deep learning, artificial intelligence and data mining techniques such as speech, logo, text and face recognition to filter all relevant information. The synergistic approach of combining these different technologies provides highly accurate results.

Position

A day in the life of a Media Distillery DevOps Engineer:

You’ll start the day with a delicious coffee and catch-up with some of your team, maybe touching on achievements from the previous day and things you’re keen to try out during the week. As a group, we'll have a quick scrum to highlight what work is still pending and who’s taking the lead on what.

After this, you will use your experience to optimize our Elasticsearch clusters. Or maybe you’ll work with some team members and use your knowledge of Kubernetes to roll out a new product for our customers.

After a tasty lunch with the rest of the team, you’ll be able to spend time to keep our Cassandra cluster (NoSQL) in a healthy state or start looking at automating our platform with Terraform. Then you could use your grasp of cloud computing to help synchronizing data between our deployments in Chile and the Netherlands.

As an afternoon break, join a game of ping-pong or relax with some tea downstairs. And finally, end off with some time to focus on developing your programming skills by updating/creating some RESTful APIs, or creating a new storage client libraries.

Of course, as part of the team you will keep an eye on the system with our state of the art monitoring tools.

Your qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud computing
  • Experience with Cassandra
  • Knowledge of Puppet, Terraform, Helm or Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge with Java
  • Expert communication skills in English
  • Strong work ethic, able to multi-task efficiently and take ownership for your work
  • A real team player: you enjoy pairing up with other team members to reach a common goal

What we offer

  • Chance to use an open-source tech stack
  • Develop your understanding of machine learning, natural language processing and deep learning algorithms
  • Chance to put your own spin on our infrastructure and IT landscape
  • Join a high-energy, highly skilled and creative team (see us for yourself here)
  • Competitive market conformed salary with potential stock options
  • Personal training budget
  • Flexible working hours with the possibility to work from home when needed
  • 25 vacation days
