Hubs (formerly 3D Hubs) is an online platform for custom part manufacturing, providing access to a global network of manufacturing services, including CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication. Founded in Amsterdam in 2013, Hubs has since produced 7 million parts and was acquired for $280M by Protolabs in January 2021. Hubs continues to operate as an independent company aimed at further unlocking the massive distributed manufacturing opportunity together with Protolabs.

Position

If you're looking for a tech scale-up in Amsterdam there are a few to choose from, but none quite with our story. Over the past 9 years, we've built the world's largest distributed manufacturing network and have built the easiest-to-use product for ordering custom parts. We help the companies you know and love to build a better future, from humble startups to big names like Audi, HP, and NASA. Some parts we've produced are floating in space right now.

We're looking for an ML Engineer for the Computational Models Team, whose mission is to build and maintain our various models. AKA making our platform automated and smarter.

Our tech stack: Python(Pytorch), C++, Rust, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Redshift).

What you'll do:

• Work on the behind-the-scenes systems to power our digital manufacturing platform together with a vertical team made up of other ML engineers
• Build and maintain deep learning models
• Build and deploy pipelines with our ML Ops team
• Use neural network architecture to solve new and existing problems in digital manufacturing

Your qualification

• Experience building ML capabilities in production environments
• Strong coding skills with Python or similar
• A solid understanding of how to design, develop, test, and monitor production deep learning models
• Familiarity working with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Will be a plus

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning or similar experience

Our recruitment process:

• Our recruiter will have a quick chat to talk about the role and to learn more about you, your ambitions and agree on the next steps
• Then we'll schedule a chat with one of our engineers from our engineering team to talk tech
• After that, we'll have the technical assessments: one to gauge your system design skills, and one to cover your coding skills. The system design assessment will be a collaboration with one of our engineers to build, at a high level, a working web system. The coding assessment involves a take home assignment and live code review
• Finally, you'll have a short talk with one of our culture ambassadors and our director of engineering
