Position

Unbabel is looking for an experienced frontend developer to build, scale and maintain Unbabel's Interfaces, joining our engineering teams in our Lisbon office. The successful candidate could start remote, for now, and until the end of 2020, but eventually relocation to the Lisbon area (if applicable) will be required.
Unbabel engineers drive things forward and get things done. Our engineers build features today that users will use tomorrow. You must be ready to firefight against scaling or design challenges in real time.

Responsibilities:

• Leading or significantly contributing to medium-to-large feature releases, usually multi-person projects that cross engineering team boundaries
• Being a clear expert in one or more technical areas
• Being recognized for high quality, impactful technical contributions
• Participating in the design review process, seeking and providing constructive criticism
• Demonstrating ability to succeed in a wide range of complex situations across multiple axes: e.g. scale, uncertainty, interconnectedness 
• Monitoring and adjusting team pace to instil urgency for success but protect from burnout
• Estimating and managing project timelines and risk
• Crossing team and service boundaries to solve problems
• Building relationships with stakeholders including customers, product managers, cross-functional partners, and external partners
• Contributing to define strategic direction, planning the roadmap, escalating issues, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success
• Ensuring that knowledge is shared amongst the team and not positioning themselves or others as a single point of failure
• Mentoring other front end engineers
• Working through others. Lifting the skills and expertise of those around them 
• Advising manager with insights and recommendations to improve the team

Your qualification

• Vue.js skills with proven experience of working on data-centric front end services
• A bachelor's degree and relevant industrial experience
• Great English communication skills
• Understanding of UX/UI best practices and patterns
• Demonstrated web performance profiling, troubleshooting and optimization experience. Familiar with web performance best practices
