About Catawiki

Catawiki was founded in 2008. It was originally designed as a website where collectors could manage and keep track of their collections online. Visitors can still add new items to the existing catalogue of collectibles. Unsurprisingly, the name Catawiki is a combination of the words ‘catalogue’ and ‘wiki’. In 2011, Catawiki began hosting weekly auctions in various categories, including art, antiques, classic cars, watches, jewellery, fashion, books, and stamps.

Position

Here at Catawiki, you will make an impact by improving and delivering product innovations for the Catawiki platform. Along with other Engineering team members, you will build beautiful and adaptable native mobile app features on top of scalable microservices. These serve both our sellers and our buyers. You'll ensure that your features work well on all recent iOS and iPadOS devices, and recent OS versions. You keep track of system performance, and optimise it where needed.
In addition, you will use A/B experiments, agreed upon with your Product Manager and User Experience Designer, and backed by data analysis, to add product features and deliver the best user experience on the platform.

What you’ll bring

You are an iOS Engineer with extensive experience with Swift and Cocoa Touch frameworks (UIKit and SwiftUI), with an impressive portfolio of past mobile deliveries, and eager to expand your knowledge and impact, ready to take the next step in your career. You are effective in lifting the level of your team, and you love to cooperate with iOS Engineers of other teams.

  • You are a passionate engineer with a strong eye for detail.
  • You strive to be a great team player and don’t shy away from new challenges.
  • You are someone who takes initiative and is ready to jump in and help if needed.
  • You keep the company's values close to your heart.
  • You enjoy working in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • You are passionate about what you do and eager to follow industry trends.
  • You possess a "Growth Mindset" in which you take the initiative to further your personal skill set as a Software Developer, whether by learning new skills and/or technologies or by seeking new opportunities.
  • You have an "Experimental Mindset" too: we value a test-and-learn approach - validate ideas quickly, iterate based on insights, and don’t be afraid to discard what doesn’t work. Once validated, we build for the long term with scalability and maintainability in mind.

We look for Engineers who are motivated to learn new things, ship new features, and pursue new and interesting challenges. Our iOS stack is fully Swift-based, our screens are both UIKit and SwiftUI, and we use the VIPER architecture.

Your qualification

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an iOS Engineer using Swift as your main stack.
  • Proven experience working in product companies and collaborating closely with other engineers and product managers to become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team.
  • Experience in designing and implementing features with a focus on stability, performance, and consistency.
  • You are proficient in native technologies - SwiftUI, UIKit, and the Swift standard library.
  • You are routinely apply object-oriented and functional, imperative and declarative programming paradigms where needed.
  • You have experience with testing frameworks - XCTest, XCUITest, Quick & Nimble, snapshot testing, and/or Swift Testing.
  • You have an understanding of good programming principles - SOLID, DRY - and have a good problem-solving approach and mindset.
  • You can discuss and propose API designs with engineers with a focus on user-friendliness and long term benefits.
  • When building features, you consider performance, testing, security, localisation, accessibility, observability.
  • You know how to monitor and manage an application in production: you build it, you run it, you love it!

Will be a plus

While this is an iOS position, familiarity or affinity with other tech stacks (frontend web, backend, Android), and experience running it in production is a great plus. This knowledge will help in collaborating effectively across the stack and optimising frontend-backend interactions.

What we offer

In return

  • A competitive Annual Gross Base Salary depending on your level, competencies, and overall experience.
  • Health Insurance from day 1 (including dental coverage), with access to multiple hospitals and clinics and a vast wellness network.
  • A Work From Home Allowance to help with your monthly household bills.
  • Commuting between your home and our office is covered by Catawiki.
  • Amazing Office right in the centre of Lisbon.

Why You'll Love Working with Us

  • Create a Visible Impact by working at scale in a global organisation that serves millions of customers across 80+ categories. In our flat structure, every role has a broad scope that directly impacts both our customers and the business.
  • Learn and Grow with Us through our Learning & Development initiatives, which include clear development plans and mentorship programmes designed to support your career progression.

We foster an inclusive and queer-friendly work environment, committed to making every Catawikian feel welcomed and empowered. Whatever your story, we encourage you to bring your unique perspective to our team.
  • Celebrate Life’s Moments with us at Catawiki. When you join us, you’ll receive a €100 Catavoucher, and on each birthday, you'll get a €50 Catavoucher to celebrate. Enjoy an extra day off each year to "Pursue Your Passion". We also recognise significant work anniversaries (3, 5, 8, 10 years) with additional time off, plus extra leave for life’s big moments like marriage, engagements, or moving house.

Please note that benefits can vary by location. For specific information regarding what’s available in your country, please consult your recruiter.
