Catawiki was founded in 2008. It was originally designed as a website where collectors could manage and keep track of their collections online. Visitors can still add new items to the existing catalogue of collectibles. Unsurprisingly, the name Catawiki is a combination of the words ‘catalogue’ and ‘wiki’. In 2011, Catawiki began hosting weekly auctions in various categories, including art, antiques, classic cars, watches, jewellery, fashion, books, and stamps.
As we are expanding internationally at a high pace, you will be at the center of our business development - it is a very exciting time to join the Logistics team! Your team is responsible for offering cheaper and better ways of shipping sold items from sellers to buyers - and we are starting to offer these cheaper and better shipping methods in many more countries.
Our Logistics team, like all our Engineering teams, is interdisciplinary: you will cooperate directly with back-end, frontend (we already have a frontend engineer in the team to support you!), iOS, and Android engineers, and together you are responsible for all shipping and logistics functionality of our Catawiki apps and our web app. You will create software that helps both our buyers and our sellers to optimise their delivery workflow. Apart from the engineers, your other team members are the QA, the UX designer, the Product Manager, and your Tech Lead Manager, who leads and guides the engineers on a daily basis.
What you'll do
Here at Catawiki, you will make an impact by improving and delivering product innovations for the Catawiki platform. Along with other Engineering team members, you will build beautiful and adaptable web front-ends on top of scalable microservices. Most of these serve our sellers and buyers, and some are geared towards our own customer services and internal operations teams.
You make sure that your web components will work well and be responsive to: desktop, tablet, and mobile screens. And by measuring and monitoring system performance, you optimise the performance of your products.
In addition, you will use A/B experiments, agreed upon with your Product Manager and User Experience Designer, and backed by data analysis, to add product features and deliver the best user experience on the platform.
You are a Front-end Engineer with extensive front-end experience in multiple technologies, and with an impressive portfolio of past front-end deliveries, and you are eager to expand your knowledge and your impact, and to take the next step in your career. As a Senior engineer, you are effective in lifting the level of your team, and you love to cooperate with front-end engineers of other teams.
We look for engineers who are motivated to learn new things, ship new features, and pursue new and interesting challenges. Our front-end stack is mainly built using TypeScript and React.

Our Offices and Way of Working
Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course, if the job description specifies that the role is 100% remote—such as for certain expert or sales positions—then that arrangement will apply.
