Position

Nordic Semiconductor is looking to recruit a talented and experienced engineer to join the growing Software Automation team at Nordic Semiconductor. As a SW Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing embedded CI/CD solutions that enable Nordic’s 200+ developers to release products as fast as possible.

Nordic embraces open-source software development models for all projects and the CI/CD system is an integral part of this process. The automation team designs, develops, and implements the systems needed to achieve this. The position includes installing and maintaining build and test nodes, toolchain management, network security, reliability monitoring, and creating new tools if open source ones don’t exist. Periodically the candidate would also be responsible for server room operations and new hardware purchases.

The automation team works closely with all software teams to achieve the goals above and excellent communication skills are needed. In addition, it is desired that the candidate has experience with embedded software development to work effectively with product developers. We are looking to recruit for this position in Oslo and Trondheim, but Nordic Semiconductor has R&D sites in multiple locations throughout the world. When working with cross-site projects, the candidate would be expected to travel occasionally to our other R&D facilities.

Responsibilities:

The job involves a range of activities that may vary over time. Regularly, your responsibilities include:

• Planning future development and improvements of the CI/CD system. This includes finding new tools and organizing their roll-out in the Nordic infrastructure 
• Automating maintenance of legacy CI/CD systems
• Debugging distributed automation failures
• Developing standard work processes for developers to use
• Server Infrastructure management (HW upgrades, purchasing, installation)

Your qualification

• Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar engineering program with preferably at least 2 years' relevant work experience
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar engineering program with preferably at least 4 years' relevant work experience
• Experience with developing in Windows and Linux environments
• Extensive experience with CI tools and configuration-as-code principles
• Comfortable working with VM's and containers 
• Experience with scripting in Python or similar languages
• Excellent communication skills. Fluent English language (written and oral)

Will be a plus

• Deep knowledge about Linux and Windows OS
• Experience designing complex CI/CD systems
• Experience with cloud service tools (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker)
• Experience with Orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Vagrant, etc.)
