Position

We are seeking a GIS Developer to join our team and take our GIS applications to the next level. As a GIS Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our GIS application, particularly the planning and asset management applications for Swisscom's network construction based on GE Smallworld. You will actively contribute to an interdisciplinary DevOps team and drive the future direction of our applications.

Our team consists of a total of 43 talented employees, divided among internal and external resources. We have 16 internal employees based in Switzerland, while 27 external employees mostly come from Germany and Poland.

To work efficiently, we have organized ourselves into two PTA teams (PTA.AM and PTA.DA). Each team has a dedicated Product Owner, and both teams are supported by a shared Scrum Master. This structure helps us carefully plan, organize, and meet project deadlines.

Our team is highly motivated and strives to deliver high-quality products and solutions. We place great importance on open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement of our work processes.

What impact will you have?

• Develop and maintain GIS applications for Swisscom's network construction, focusing on planning and asset management based on Smallworld PNI (and other modules).
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary DevOps team to shape the future of our applications.
• Contribute to the technological transformation towards Smallworld 5.x and GSS.
• Work in an Agile Release Train, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
• Participate in troubleshooting and incident management related to GIS applications.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technological advancements in GIS.

Your qualification

• Experience in developing and maintaining GIS applications, preferably in a large-scale and complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of GE Smallworld or similar GIS software.
• Knowledge of Smallworld PNI product from General Elektrik.
• Proficiency in Magik language or more scripting languages.
• Familiarity with automation tools liek Ansible for optimizing application development and delivery (CI/CD).
• Experience working in an Agile environment, utilizing methodologies like Scrum and DevOps.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in English, German is a plus.

Contract terms

• To begin with you will receive a fixed term contract (one year), after 6 months of your employment with us, after a feedback meeting with the team, there is a possibility of extending the contract 
• The salary ranges mentioned in our Job Descriptions are base annual gross salaries including the 8% holiday allowance
