Position

Your future team

Your team will be part of the Search Department. The Search Department assumes responsibility for the customer facing side of Holidu, directly impacting the customer experience for millions of users. Through data analysis, customer interviews and extensive A/B testing we focus on continuously improving the Holidu product.

As the Engineering Manager for the website team, you will lead a team of backend and frontend engineers and report directly to the Head of Engineering. Together with the Product Manager you’ll own many different areas of the Holidu website including our customer support area, our corporate and recruiting pages, and our whitelabel solutions. Your team will work closely with other departments in Holidu including Marketing, Branding and HR.

Our Tech Stack

• We are writing our applications with a micro-service approach, using Java 11, with Spring Boot, running on Kubernetes
• Data storage with Elasticsearch 7, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
• Streaming and queuing systems like Kafka and ActiveMQ
• Heavy usage of AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Git
• Web-Application and internal applications written with ReactJS. Native iOS and Android Apps written with Swift and Kotlin 
• Monitoring with ELK, Grafana, and internally developed technologies

Your role in this journey

• Lead a high-performing cross-functional team with a strong focus on product, velocity, quality and engineering culture
• Focus on the growth of your team by offering consistent and valuable feedback and recruiting new engineers
• Work closely with product management, product design and stakeholders to define the team's goals and roadmap
• Collaborate with peers, staff engineers and other stakeholders to drive strategic technology decisions
• Foster a culture of ownership, autonomy and inclusivity within your team and the entire department

Your qualification

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Experience building and implementing backend services and/or frontend applications
• Experience providing technical leadership (e.g., setting goals and priorities, architecture design, task planning and code reviews)
• Experience as a people manager with the ability to build an excellent team culture based on mutual respect, empathy, learning and support for each other
