Position
As a Senior Backend Developer at Getsafe, your mission is to shape the insurance sector of tomorrow by developing our B2C platform. Besides building services for multi-market insurance management, payment infrastructure or claim management, we are also creating an ecosystem of libraries and building blocks that allow us to kickstart new projects and features in no time.
- Programming: As a part of our 15 heads development team you are responsible to develop new features for our product and implement concepts of our product owners
- Planning: You will support our product owners with your technical expertise during planning processes
- Improving: You will do code reviews and tests to keep a high standard of code quality and constantly improve our technical environment and architecture to scale with the needs of our business
- Further development: You help and advise new developer colleagues during their onboarding process, share your ideas and work closely with all other team members to create a solid, consistent and scalable technical fundament
Technologies you'll work with:
- Service-oriented architecture of ~5 independent services
- Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Sidekiq, Redis
- Heroku and AWS
- API-first approach with REST-like interfaces
- We develop and maintain our own ruby gems to share common solutions across applications
- Application of event sourcing and state machines to achieve extensibility and reproducibility
Your qualification
- You are an expert when it comes to programming (preferred object-oriented language)
- You have a passion for Ruby on Rails and new technologies and got previous experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, RSpec, Heroku
- Service-Oriented Architecture is a plus but not required as long as you are willing to tackle a steep learning curve
- Strong knowledge of software development (DRY, KISS, SOLID, DDD), testing and continuous integration/delivery
- Experience with relational databases
- Solid understanding of integrating and building well tested and documented APIs
- You are eager to work in an agile and ever-changing environment
- You have the ability to distil a complex problem into its essential elements, and clearly communicate your vision to the team
