Senior Scala Backend Engineer for Transactional Core

Position

Zalando is looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer who will have the opportunity to help us to provide easy and most frictionless checkout service to our customers. You will be responsible for developing and operating in production backend microservices using Scala, Java, AWS, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, deploy and operate end-to-end customer facing solutions
• Pay strong attention to API design, automated tests, scalability and resilience in order to deliver high quality software
• Work in a cross functional team consisting of designers, developers, product managers and product analytics
• Proactively mentor, share knowledge and learn from your fellows

Your qualification

• 8+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams
• Deep knowledge of Scala with an emphasis on multithreading and concurrency
• Experience in designing and running production distributed NoSQL databases (preferably Cassandra)
• Hands on experience in designing, developing and operating microservices on a highly distributed system (preferably on AWS)
• Knowledge of object oriented and functional programming paradigms
• Passion for developing clean, well maintainable and testable code
• Working experience with high level of test automation (Unit, Integration, Component, User Journey…)
