As Junior Backend Software Engineer, you’re part of a high performing team, building technologies that connect every part of the fashion industry.

Your qualification

We are building applications and services that connect fashion merchants with Zalando customers. We solve hard architectural and algorithmic problems. We set ambitious availability, throughput, latency and reliability goals. We value the quality of our designs and the cleanliness of our code. We think hard and move fast. We build for Zalando scale.

We use a variety of languages, but most of our backend systems are written in Scala. We do not require any pre-existing mastery of this language, but you would certainly enjoy working with us more if you are motivated to learn it. We do expect you to be a strong problem solver, with a solid grasp of computer science fundamentals.

We minimize reinventing the wheel and maximize using open-source and AWS offerings as appropriate. We encourage the culture of learning, trust, constructive feedback and career growth. Here, you will both learn from others and teach others.
