Position

Are you an experienced engineer looking for a challenging role where you can witness the impact of your solutions on a large scale? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Joining our Platform team and you will collaborate on building foundational capabilities for our rapidly growing customer base. Topics like scalability, resilience, observability, and developer experience are part of our daily conversations

THE ROLE

• As a Senior Software Engineer on our Platform team, you will be responsible for building foundational capabilities that span a wide range of customer use cases supporting +20% annual customer growth
• You will creatively design and implement the software that supports a new vehicle data platform that binds vehicle telematics data with user experiences
• You will participate in code reviews, mentor other engineers, and guide others in holding a high bar for software quality and capability
• When confronted with technical choices, you will help us decide what is optimal, often among a set of very good but competing alternatives
• You will regularly use data to inform your decisions and look quantitatively at what needs to be done by pulling data from various sources including our monitoring infrastructure, data lake, data warehouse, and various product databases
• You look forward to working with outstanding collaborators including Cloud, QA Automation, Product Management, and UX teams

TECH STACK

• We have a diverse tech stack including Python (Flask & Celery) and Java (Spring Boot), on the backend
• We leverage AWS-managed services to achieve resilience and scalability, including DynamoDB, ECS, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, Athena and Glue
• We test and monitor (using Datadog, Sentry, Bugsnag) our services at all levels as part of each change. Most of our infrastructure is automated using CDK

Your qualification

• You have the depth of knowledge to engineer software that predictably works at scale. You enjoy designing and building complex distributed systems
• You have experience with Java and it’s an ecosystem. Knowledge of Python/Typescript/Go is a plus
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases Postgres, Redis, DynamoDB (or similar)
• You are humble and always open to exploring new or alternative ways of doing something. You are comfortable making recommendations for the most optimal path
• You take ownership and pride in your engineering. You have a vision for what is possible and are excited to define what needs to be done and share it with others
• You see the connection between a business problem and the impact of your engineering. Often you describe this connection to others and inspire their learning
