Position
There would be no Wolt, without the restaurants and retailers. We live in symbiosis, and we are dedicated to serving our merchants in the best possible way - in the best cases, we've multiplied revenue for our merchants and improved their market reach. We currently have more than 27,000 restaurants on Wolt, but that number is growing FAST, so it's more important than ever to develop our merchant facing products.
As a Backend Engineer in the Merchant Integrations team, you'll be making sure our merchant partners can benefit from their cooperation with Wolt even more. The team has been building custom integrations for major franchises, but we’re now ready to build open API’s to enable more of our merchant partners to reap the benefits. You will be building new APIs, allowing merchants to integrate into our system. These are not only restaurants but also big chains such as supermarkets - in terms of business scope we’re talking about a large scale. The work is extremely impactful, and depending on your preference might also include direct communication with several stakeholders. Instead of firefighting, you will mostly be building new solutions in our small, autonomous team.
Your qualification
- Several years of experience and good understanding of building high-quality software, APIs and integrations
- Ability to handle the whole development cycle all the way to production
- Attitude of continuous improvement and the ability to create entirely new features from scratch
- An entrepreneurial mindset of taking ownership across our codebase to ensure a great merchant experience
- Good communication & collaboration skills
- Strong expertise in one JVM language, Kotlin is desired
Will be a plus
- Background in developing services with Python (FastAPI, Flask)
- Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies
- Apache Kafka to stream data for real time integrations
- Jenkins, Github actions or Gitlab CI/CD to build solid data pipelines
- Knowledge of AWS/GCP/Azure and Terraform to manage resources in public cloud
- Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift/Docker Swarm for containerization and orchestration

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and Wolt stock options. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you'll own a piece of the pie.
