Position
Wolt is looking for Senior Backend Engineers to join our Finance Group teams, working on enabling smooth country operations and ensuring locally compliant financial invoicing as well as modern in-house made tools for our finance and operations. As Wolt operates internationally in over 23 countries and over 120 cities, we have to make sure that we have tools available to ace our money flows in every market meet local requirements in financial matters. Our Finance Group in engineering makes sure that our product is ready to enter new markets by building integrations for invoicing and taxation and automating financial processes for local country teams. They also have an important role whenever we expand to new business domains, such as retail and Wolt Market recently. Naturally they work closely with our expansion, operations, legal and finance teams to make this happen!
You’ll be working together with one of the experienced teams of backend engineers, frontend engineers, a product lead and a team lead. The teams at Wolt are autonomous and each team member is able to influence decision-making, ways of working and priorities. The teams are based in Helsinki HQ (working remotely at the moment) but welcome new members to the Helsinki HQ or working entirely remotely in elsewhere Finland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden or Estonia now and in the future! Note that we don't have relocation support for other locations than Finland & Germany at the time, so we hope you are based in one of these locations when applying for remote role.
Your qualification
Our payment flow is written in Python but we’ve started to build new services in JVM and Kotlin. Thus we are looking for the ability to develop production-level Kotlin but find strong expertise in other - especially JVM - backend languages relevant as well. Our Engineers have wide responsibilities over the whole development lifecycle so knowledge of tools such as PostgreSQL, Docker, K8 and AWS will become handy. We are looking for engineers who can solve problems together, think about big problems such as scalability and availability and sometimes go against the current to also challenge the common decision making.
