Position
Smartly.io is looking for a Frontend Engineer to their new Tools Team. You’ll be responsible for building frontend component library based on the Smartly.io design system, as well as driving its adoption in the Smartly.io application. You’ll take ownership of the frontend project as a whole and help the team build tooling, best practices and the overall architecture.
Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Lerna, Flow, Styled Components, Angular.js
The upcoming Tools Team of 7 Engineers will be responsible for building the foundation for our future growth, the important part of which is developing the Smartly-UI component library and overseeing the application frontend. The team is also overseeing the development of the core Smartly PHP application and architecture, and taking over the developer tooling development.

Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining a brand new Smartly.io front end component library with React, TypeScript and Styled Components
- Improving the whole UI development process along with the design team
- Ensuring the adoption of the component library by working with existing codebase
- Owning the build and release processes of the application frontend as well as improving our frontend architecture and ways of working
Your qualification
- Solid experience in working with a React based component library
- Experience in working closely with designers
- Background in working with a SaaS product that’s being developed by multiple teams
Will be a plus
Experience with multiple-package-development or visual regression testing

The recruitment process
- First meeting: we want to know who you are and what motivates you, before diving deeper into your tech skills. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about Smartly.io
- Technical interview: we’ll discuss areas relevant to you ranging from front end development to networks, security, and development methods. We’re trying to get a clear overview of your skills and where you could learn more
- Coding exercise: we’ll be pair programming in Node environment to make sure that you can also code. Previous experience with Node.js or JavaScript is not necessarily required (the session will be very interactive)
