About DTU Biosustain

This vacancy is provided by Copenhagen Capacity.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark are doing exactly this by developing new technologies for engineering microbes, turning them into cell factories, which are designed for efficient production of a specific compound in a commercially competitive way. Today, many pharmaceuticals and chemicals are produced from oil or rare plant material. By using genome-scale modelling, advanced robotics and bioengineering, the Center’s researchers design and construct cell factories capable of converting low-value carbon sources to high-value chemical compounds and proteins in a more sustainable, cost-effective manner than today. In short: by using cell factories, we can go from an oil-based chemical industry to a highly sustainable bio-based industry.

Position

If you have software engineering skills, and you are looking for a job that is different from most software jobs, you have it right here. At DTU Biosustain you will be part of a highly inspiring R&D environment where you can learn a lot and contribute to the development of very advanced software solutions aimed at solving some of the world’s greatest challenges – new environment friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, new medical treatments, climate friendly farming, etc. Please note that the position is limited for a 1 year period.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain)

Recent progress in our ability to read and write genomic code, combined with advances in automation, analytics and data science, has fundamentally changed the scope and ambition of harnessing the potential of biological systems. Big data approaches and analysis of biological systems are key research instruments at the Center. DTU Biosustain utilizes these advances for microbial cell factory design to foster sustainable lifestyles in relation to three application areas: Sustainable Chemicals, Natural Products, and Microbial Foods.
