Based on the iconic LEGO® BRICK, the lego group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of play materials.
Children are our role models and the importance of play has been at the heart of our business ever since 1932 when the company was founded. Their curiosity, creativity, and imagination inspire everything we do.
We are looking for an experienced software engineering leader with a commercial focus who has the skills, experience and passion to build, coach and nurture a large, autonomous engineering and architecture lead set of product teams focused on outcomes over outputs.
Responsibilities
You will be a part of, and lead, a team of 50-75 people in our Marketing and Channels Technology area responsible for the digital products that support our commercial relationships with our customers (resellers of LEGO® products). You will directly lead a team of around 9 Engineering Managers and Lead Engineers as well as the leader of the small digital product design team for the area. You will set the engineering and architecture strategy for these products in conjunction with other engineering leaders in the area and be focused on our enterprise strategies and driving commercial outcomes. Building technology is something that you do with ease while also creating a strong engineering culture where developer experience, test-driven development and empowerment for the team to be autonomous are a few of the critical concepts you need to ensure are flourishing. You will be accountable for ensuring the product engineering teams in this area and across the broader team are setup for success while also being responsible for the delivery of the product roadmaps in the area.
It is important you know how to apply, leverage and drive value from innovative technology in a solution-agnostic fashion to support the digital orchestration of our customer relationships across an ecosystem of products that also have dependencies and links to legacy systems and older technology and architecture patterns. Much of the technology in this area today is a hybrid of legacy applications that are being replaced by built capabilities and experiences.
You will inspire people around you, enabling them and encouraging to do their best work. You are a natural collaborator and see the value in working together for the greater good. People want to hear your opinions as you lead from a position of credible expertise and considered inputs. You are naturally able to give opinions and to share your thinking without dictating, or demanding but rather coaching and supporting.
Do you have what it takes
If you are comfortable building a team from a solid foundation to a new reality, while engaging senior stakeholders and ensuring clarity of technology vision and architecture priorities, then we want to hear from you. From a technology perspective we are iterating towards a microservices architecture with an internal API economy and loosely coupled, bounded product contexts. We are heavily invested in this area in leveraging modern JavaScript-focused front-end frameworks and technologies including Node.js, React and GraphQL as well as configuring and integrating technologies from SaaS providers and SAP enterprise capabilities. You have a deep understanding and are a passionate advocate for modern software engineering best practices and can operate both strategically and in a hands-on fashion.
The key elements we are looking for in your application include:
