Position

EdApp is truly a large scale global platform, with up to 60,000 lessons being completed on EdApp every day across the world, our goal is to reach 1 million monthly active users in the next three years. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be empowered to manage complex architectural decisions for our platform so that we can scale.

You’ll work at all layers of the stack and with close partners across engineering, product, and design. What you design will directly power major features and product experiences. You’ll help our codebase stay ahead of the curve and ensure that feature development is both fast and fun. You’ll own the delivery of practical solutions to solve real-world problems for customers, with the knowledge that what you build has an immediate positive impact. You’ll face exciting technical challenges as we scale, and be an integral part of the engineering team. High-performing teams here own their services, and you’re trusted to build and run a system that serves thousands of users while transforming it into a system that will serve millions of users in the near future.

The tech specs: C# .Net core, React, Typescript, AWS/Kubernetes, MongoDB, PostgreSQL & Snowflake.

You will:

• Review current architecture of all solutions and propose ways to optimise, enhance, and scale
• Be a key contributor to the design, development, operation and deployment of all features of the EdApp platform
• Work with a wide range of systems, processes and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end
• Architect new features while anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning
• You will provide technical and architectural leadership for the team
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization such as product, design, operations, and client success
• Help us collectively drive and increase our monthly active users!

Your qualification

• You have depth of knowledge in Microservices architecture, C# .Net and Javascript
• And a breadth of knowledge of a variety of platforms and approaches
• Experience in building and running SaaS services at scale
• Rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
• Ability to articulate effort vs impact tradeoffsAbility to improve others’ ability to deliver great work
• You’re an excellent communicator. You can explain not just your ideas, but the reasons behind them, and you’re comfortable doing that in person, over slack or email, or in a code review
• You lead by example. You own your work and hold yourself responsible for results. You might still be developing your leadership qualities, but you aim to inspire the people around you
• You’re customer obsessed. You engineer with a customer-centric mindset and have strong empathy for customers journey’s and experiences 
• You have a start-up mindset. You thrive in fast-pace, often ambiguous environments, and take initiative in order to be able to identify possible problems before they arise and identify potential solutions
• You enjoy your work and the team you work with. You think terrible puns are funny and are willing to get to know your teammates for more than just their code
