Position

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Product Owner who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment and lives to delight the customer.

We launched our Rides team two years ago with the goal of becoming the best way to get to and from the airport. We started offering airport transfers on booking.com while also building our direct business, rideways.com. We are now rapidly expanding Rides as well as building additional new transport products to get our customers from A to B in the best way possible.

You will be part of our Manchester team our core scaling and growth centre focusing on ensuring we can deliver the best possible customer and user experience across our product portfolio. We share the upsides of being part of a bigger company - but with the pace of an early-stage business.

As Senior Product Owner you will be central to this team, understanding the value of user-centric design, product metrics, clear roles and accountability and rapid learning. Your role will be to create a winning team, inspire people behind your vision and to continually improve our product management process. You will also be In this highly visible role, you will work directly with the Managing Director, in addition to other functional leaders and other senior leadership across BookingGo. You will also be an integral part of the product community within BookingGo, developing a distinct way of doing product successfully.

You will be based in Manchester alongside several Product teams you will be working closely with, spanning the whole customer journey. You will have some travel to our office in London, where we have teams working on other transport modes and platforms. You will also be working closely with our Booking.com colleagues based in Amsterdam.

We are looking for somebody who gets product management, has a firm grasp of agile development, rapid prototyping and lean UX methodologies. Most of all we need somebody customer-obsessed who is committed to delivering an exciting new product that will delight customers. You will be determined to understand our customers needs and their interactions with all aspects of the product. You will be willing to change course as you learn new things, sprint by sprint.

Key Responsibilities

Product strategy

• Define a compelling product vision using deep customer and business understanding
• Understand the needs and have a great grasp of communication strategy to internal stakeholders (Marketing, Commercial, operations, etc)
• Inspire others to follow your vision through evidence-based development
• Act like an entrepreneur

Customer focus

• Know your customer better than they know themselves
• Use this knowledge to solve their problems and build delightful experiences
• Be data-informed, both qualitative and quantitative
• Encourage a learning-focused product development approach, day-to-day

Planning & delivery

• Deliver value quickly and iteratively using a data-informed, scientific approach
• Define and constantly refine ways of working
• Constantly problem-solve with and engage Design and Engineering community, using their language
• Work with senior stakeholders to deliver the product strategy

Capability development

• Build a high-performing team, from recruitment to processes, coaching and alignment across other functions
• Define and lead processes to encourage cross team collaboration and alignment
• Lead consideration of the right product metrics and dashboards to monitor progress
• Adopt the right tools, language and toolkit within the team to accelerate learning and customer-focus

Commercial alignment

• Understand business needs, and ensure alignment with product vision
• Foster a value-focused delivery process, and continuous tracking to how well we are doing against our business goals alongside our product objectives
• Enable teams to be successful in solving problems that improve marketplace performance, alongside generating business value

Management

• Day-to-day management of 3+ product owners and teams
• Working with the management team across all functional areas to drive and deliver growth / strategic projects as well as being part of the overall healthy functioning of the team

Your qualification

• Degree educated
• 5+ years working as a Product Owner or Senior Product Owner equivalent role
• Experience working in an Agile Environment (SCRUM or KANBAN)
• Successfully applied agile principles
• Have a proven track record of delivering successful, user-oriented products
• Be able to define and communicate product vision or strategy to others
• Be commercially aware and have a strategic mind, able to identify business opportunities and deliver against them
• Familiarity with A/B testing, split testing or other multivariate testing
• Excellent problem solving, prioritisation and communication skills
• Successful application of a rapid, iterative, experimental approach to product development
• Strong ability to understand and articulate how as well as why things are built. Able to work closely with the engineers on the realizing the how
• Strong grasp of data (GA, HotJar, etc) and using this to inform your work
• Understand what an exceptional user experience entails and how to deliver it whilst balancing against other competing priorities
• Have experience of driving product development through all phases of the product lifecycle

Will be a plus

• Experience in rapid prototyping and lean UX
• Experience in web/mobile e-commerce or online travel
