Position
We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills and a foundation in Machine Learning who can rely on their in-depth knowledge and intuition to build AI-powered products that empower everyone to be a creator.
We expect you to be versatile in working with common Machine Learning frameworks and be able to prototype custom network architectures. In addition, you will benefit from a strong intuition of music theory, song-form, and familiarity with symbolic music representation.

Key focus areas and responsibilities
- As Lead Engineer in the AI Creation Tools team, you will architect, develop and maintain AI products within the BandLab ecosystem from ideation to production
- You will be responsible for building and mentoring a dream team of AI/ML experts to develop novel technologies, execute product strategy, and deliver tangible outcomes for our business goals
- You’ll work with a super talented team across BandLab Technologies. You’ll collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams to solve complex problems to deliver experiences users love
Your qualification
- 5+ years of experience leading consumer-facing AI projects
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, music technology, or equivalent form of qualification (academic, professional)
- Excellent leadership and communication, experience building and scaling teams
- Substantial technical depth and system design knowledge to partner with product and engineering leads on solution creation
- Pragmatic mindset - you take an iterative approach to developing products and systems
- Enthusiasm for algorithmically generated music
- Proactive, organized, efficient, and detail-oriented
Will be a plus
- Master’s or doctorate degree (or the current pursuit thereof)
- Experience with C++ and Python
- Experience with Tensorflow
- Experience developing AI music products such as computer-generated music or audio recognition
- Strong music theory and composition background
- Familiarity with programming in a musical context, understanding of essential music technology concepts such as MIDI and signal processing
