Advertising is a major source of revenue for Indeed, and we are looking for someone to join our team of highly motivated and talented engineers working on this mission critical system and transforming the way employers connect to their ideal candidates from millions of Indeed users.

The Bidding & Optimization team’s mission is to maximize the value Enterprise employers get from Indeed by optimizing their advertising budgets to deliver on hiring objectives. Our team of world-class engineers build the core platform capabilities, algorithms, and models to deliver the right jobs to the right job seekers at Indeed, Glassdoor, and other job sites. Our Tokyo-based team works closely with our partner teams across the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

As part of this collaborative team, you will:

• Design and experiment with algorithms and machine learning models to improve the whole of Indeed's marketplace of employers and job seekers
• Architect and implement real-time systems to process large scale campaign and behavior data to make budgeting and bidding decisions
• Use your expertise to solve problems like budget optimization, bidding, traffic forecasting, and ranking
• Have ownership over the things you build, define how we iterate, and help shape the product vision and technical direction
• Work closely with a world-class team of software engineers and data scientists solving fundamental problems in the advertising space

Your qualification

• Minimum of a BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related area
• 5+ years of experience in software development with experience in object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, C#, C++
• Team player with excellent communication and leadership skills with a passion for collaboration and making others around you successful
• Ability to deep dive, analyze, and iteratively improve complex systems through data-driven decisions while maintaining high code quality
• Experience in designing and building large scale, high performance, distributed systems

Will be a plus

• Experience working with streaming architectures (e.g. RMQ, Kafka), RDBS / KVS (e.g. MySQL, Redis, MongoDB), and/or cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, GCP)
• Knowledge of the online advertising industry, search ranking, or recommendations
• Experience working on production machine learning systems
• Familiarity with A/B experimentation and statistical evaluation of test results
