Position

Leading the Platform Scalability Engineering team whose mission is to Increase the scalability, efficiency and performance of our platform by doing foundational work, implement critical improvement and support other teams by identifying technological opportunities, producing knowledge and sharing best practices.

Scalable Capital was built in the cloud from day one. Our services currently run on various AWS services like ECS, Fargate and Lambda and are distributed across multiple accounts. We embrace a DevOps culture where the development teams manage their CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for their services themself. Our Platform Scalability Engineering Team focuses on providing everything necessary to ensure Reliability and Scalability of our services and storages while being cost efficient. This includes solutions for Monitoring, Load Testing, Chaos Engineering and a Developer portal.

• Empower and manage the Platform Scalability Engineering team, helping them shape their individual careers and grow the team to become self-organised, agile and autonomous
• Provide technical expertise and share best practices with your team
• Define OKRs with your team which they can deliver on
• Organise, prioritise and achieve business goals with your team and Product
• Be part of the recruitment process to attract your potential new colleagues or team members
• Collaborate with feature teams to identify the bottlenecks in performance, efficiency and scalability
• Lead design and implementation of best practices around auto scaling of our infrastructure
• Lead and drive decision processes for improvements in the field of service and storage improvements by using serverless technologies and optimise our services and respective CICD to optimise scalability, cost and performance

Your qualification

• A university degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences, ...) or a comparable qualification
• Previous experience as a backend developer (Java/Kotlin, JavaScript/Node.js or Python) and build automations tools
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, leading high-performing engineering teams in the successful delivery of complex software projects.
• Experience in hiring and building diverse engineering teams, attracting top talent, and fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and make informed judgments in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Profound Experience with at least one public cloud provider and infrastructure as code (Preferably AWS)
• Profound understanding of Cloud Infrastructure, Monitoring, Container Orchestration and Microservice architectures
