Position

• Design, create and operate the machinery that powers the data platform and data products for our different internal customers (e.g. product teams, marketing, finance, operations)
• Design, build, test and maintain data-processing pipelines with a mind toward accuracy, scalability, high performance and data quality
• Investigate next generation data and analytics technologies and tooling
• Lead projects to produce fast and high quality results while deeply contributing yourself
• Develop and grow engineers and engineering practices in general within Babbel

Your qualification

• 5+ years professional experience designing, building, monitoring, or scaling data processing pipelines
• Strong software development skills in Python 3. Scala, Ruby 
• A passion for staying on top of emerging data-processing technologies
• Good knowledge in both SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, data representation and API design
• Deep, hands-on AWS experience including EMR, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, IAM
• Experience with
• Spark Strong engineering background, ideally experienced with medium to large sized cloud-based data systems
• Thorough understanding of service-oriented architectures and data processing in high-volume applications
• Strong understand of object-oriented software design principles
• Experience in mentoring engineers and driving projects to results
• Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Will be a plus

• Skills in Go, Javascript
• Confidence and experience in communicating with external (non-engineering) stakeholders
• Machine Learning
• DevOps knowledge
• Experience with Agile, Scrum/Kanban methodology
