Position

Our Software organization is looking for two Embedded Software Engineers who can Design and development of software in a Linux environment to be used in satellite communication networks

We offer a position in a highly specialized and skilled environment building the next generation of satellite communication equipment. The role can either be based in Lyngby or Aalborg. You will become part of a team of 20+ colleagues and report to the Software Manager.

The role

As Embedded Software Engineer your focus is to make system design and detailed design of software subsystems/components which include extension and re-design of existing embedded software, and code restructuring to fit added requirements. Tools you will be working with are Git, Jenkins, GCC, C/C++, Make, General Open Source, Jira, Wireshark, and Enterprise Architect.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Coding, integration, testing, and switch into the operation of Software
• Build-up and maintenance of internal test environments, automated and manual tests
• Planning and execution of test activities, both internal and onsite test campaigns – compliance testing to specifications 
• It is important that you want and can work with large software complexes spanning different platforms and operating environments
• For experienced candidates and Team Lead aspirants, overseeing a team of both internal employees and external consultants implementing embedded software

Your qualification

As an Embedded SW Engineer, your qualifications should ideally be the:

• Educational background within Software, Bachelor’s, or master’s level, but other educational backgrounds combined with software experience is also relevant
• Experience with complex software environments
• Experience with overviewing complex software environments
• Solid experience/have the skillset to systematically debug the systems
• You must be well familiarized with Object-oriented design and programming in C++ 14/17 and STL
• You must have a well-grown sense of quality in all working relations – our solution needs to be working well once released into an operational environment
• Experience in a Linux development environment

The Domain

Satellite antenna and terminal development provide the opportunity to engage with various technologies and concepts including network stacks, communication protocols, proprietary hardware interfaces, mechanical solutions, Linux applications, open-source packages, cyber security, real-time operations, mathematical algorithms, etc. Cobham Satcom’s equipment needs to interface and comply with several 3rd party products which together with the requirements of the end-users and regulatory constraints set some challenging objectives.

The work is done in cross-functional software teams with a flavor of scrum, which is continuously being improved. Cobham Satcom benefits from a modern development pipeline of source control and configuration, automatic build and test systems, code review, and project tracking based on Git, Bitbucket, Docker, Jenkins, and Jira.
