We’re looking for Data Engineers at different seniorities to help us drive improvements in our data pipeline development for stakeholders across the organisation and to join our focus on creating high value, innovative data products.
As a Data Engineer, you will take a key role in an agile product team focusing on using AWS tools, Azure DevOps, and custom tools to deliver data into our data lake, data mesh and data science platforms. Your day-to-day tasks will typically include:
- Providing technical expertise and guidance for the components that make up our data ecosystem, which has been built on AWS services
- In collaboration with your colleagues, leading and defining the end-to-end architecture of our data pipeline solutions
- Taking the role of developer, tester, integration, and deployment specialist on data pipelines
- Driving continuous improvement using behaviour-driven design principles, DevOps practices, and awareness of compliance requirements
- Coaching and sharing knowledge with colleagues through demos, co-development, and sparring, ensuring that expertise is spread across the team to enable collaborative ways of working
Your qualification
As an ideal candidate, you have a bachelor's or master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field. On top of that you have a minimum of 1 years of experience as Data Engineer and can tick off most of the following competencies:
- Experience with contemporary cloud technologies, preferably AWS
- Experience deploying with CI/CD and working with modern build, test, and deployment tools
- Strong skills with Python and at least one more of the following programming languages: TypeScript, Go, Java, C++, C#, or Rust
- Strong skills in SQL and experienced with modern data warehouses, preferably Redshift
- Experienced with containerization, preferably Docker
- Experienced with Spark, preferably within AWS Glue
- Experienced with software development best practices for writing, reviewing and refactoring code
- The ability to understand complex technical matters, form an educated opinion, and communicate with impact to a variety of stakeholders with various levels of technical expertise
No matter your experience, it's essential you have the right mindset, open to learning and applying new skills within data engineering. As our corporate language is English, we also expect you to be fluent both in writing and spoken.
