Position

We are seeking an experienced Frontend Software Engineer to join the team. Visa sponsorship options are available for the right person.

As a Software Engineer on our team, you'll enable and accelerate the future of food through software and data. You’ll collaborate with the world’s leading experts in cell culture research and manufacturing – designing and building the interface that underpins everything from micro optimisation of cell metabolites through to factory wide operation of cutting edge bioreactor technology.

This critical role requires strong capabilities in UX design to bridge our technical capabilities with the need for enhanced user experience. While the primary focus is on frontend development, especially with React, you should be comfortable working not only across the stack, but across cross-functional domains and outside your comfort zone.

Your qualification

• You will have 4+ years of software engineering experience shipping code in production tech stacks, including in mission-critical and large-scale systems
• You have experience owning and delivering on complex software problems
• You’re kind, curious, take pride in your work, and enjoy learning new things
• You’re able to identify and make pragmatic tradeoffs – threading the needle between robust engineering and business needs
• You are a fantastic communicator capable of driving for clarity and impact alongside both technical and non-technical individuals alike
• You possess solid experience in React and TypeScript, with the ability to engage in full-stack development when necessary
• You demonstrate a strong understanding of UX principles, prioritise user-centric solutions, and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams while aligning your work with company objectives
• You have developed deep frontend technical expertise through diverse project experiences, including small scrappy projects in startup environments and larger frontends implementing scalable best practices in larger companies

• Familiarity in scientific and/or manufacturing domains

You will

• Take full ownership and accountability of the frontend React stack, championing a user-driven approach that delights users with a delightful software experience.
• Drive for higher team velocity by upskilling all those around you.
• Demonstrate versatility by contributing to backend or full-stack tasks as needed while maintaining focus on front-end development.
• Confidently take ownership of highly cross functional on ambiguous and domain specific projects
• Maintain a balance between best practices and pragmatic approaches to meet project deadlines and objectives effectively.

What success looks like

In the first month, you’ll get to know your team and manager, collaborate with scientists, technicians, engineers and data scientists to understand their lab, factory and data challenges. Learn the core science of cultured meat, and delve into our tech stack to immediately ship impactful changes into our software platform. 

In the upcoming months, you'll have complete ownership and responsibility for the frontend stack. Your focus on user-driven design will ensure that our software delivers a delightful experience, ensuring our platform always delivers significant and meaningful impact through to the team at Vow.
