Position

  • Designing, operate and scale the platform infrastructure and data products for our different internal customers (e.g. product teams, marketing, finance, operations)
  • Designing, building, testing and maintaining data-processing pipelines with a mind toward accuracy, scalability, high performance and data quality
  • Investigating next generation data and analytics technologies to expand the capacity and performance of Babbels stack
  • Leading and participating in cross-functional projects that supporting data applications and reporting
  • Developing and growing engineers and engineering practices at Babbel

Your qualification

  • 3+ years professional experience designing, building, monitoring, or scaling data processing pipelines
  • Deep, hands-on AWS experience including EMR, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, IAM
  • Strong software development skills in Python 3
  • A passion for staying on top of emerging data-processing technologies
  • Confidence and experience in communicating with external (non-engineering) stakeholders
  • Strong engineering background, ideally experienced with medium to large sized cloud-based data systems
  • Good knowledge in SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, data representation and API design
  • Good understanding of service-oriented architectures, data processing in high-volume applications and object-oriented software design principles
  • Experience in mentoring engineers and driving projects to results

Will be a plus

  • Scala, Ruby, Go, Javascript
  • DevOps knowledge
